Bridgerton villain

Bridgerton has already subtly foreshadowed who the unexpected villain of part two will be

I’ll never look at her the same way again

Bridgerton has already secretly foreshadowed who the biggest villain in part two will be and it might not be the character you’re expecting. Whilst the Netflix series has taken some liberties to the pacing of the show compared to that of the book, Romancing Mr Bridgerton, if it sticks to the plot of the books then one character will be shown in a completely new light.

In the novel, Cressida Cowper is the only member of the ton other than Colin who knows that Penelope is Lady Whistledown and she starts scheming. Cressida starts trying to blackmail Penelope, threatening to expose her true identity if she doesn’t give her the money she earned from her gossip column. Eventually, Colin and Penelope decide to beat Cressida at her own game and tell the ton themselves that Penelope is Lady Whistledown.

And whilst part one of Bridgerton has characterised Cressida as a character we feel more sympathetic for this could all be set up for her villain arc once part two releases. The show has already hinted at her tendency for blackmail in episode four when Lord Debling pays a visit to Penelope and she insists she must have blackmailed him in order to win his affection. We’ll have to wait for part two in order to see whether Cressida gets her redemption arc or if the showrunners follow the plot of the novel.

Part one of Bridgerton season three is available on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
