Matt Rife relationship

From celebrities to models: Inside the relationship history of Matt Rife

One of his ex-girlfriends was 43 when they started dating!

I’m just going to say what we’re all thinking, Matt Rife is bad boyfriend material and wouldn’t be a great person to be in a relationship with. Despite looking like Nick Birch from Big Mouth, Matt Rife has somehow managed to get into relationships with some very talented and beautiful women.

From celebrities to actresses, let’s see who Matt Rife has been in relationships with.

Jessica Lord

Matt Rife confirmed his relationship with Jessica Lord in October, with the two going Instagram official in November. Jessica is an actress and worked in Hulu’s Find Me in Paris, where she plays the leading role, and also appeared in an episode of Party of Five and an episode of Ransom.

Speaking about her experience of being an actress Jessica said: “It’s gone really well and I get to work with some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. It’s just been such a crazy rollercoaster like a dream I didn’t even know could be reality.”

Matt described in the Podcrushed podcast how he and Jessica first met in 2022, and whilst Matt was instantly attracted to her, Jessica had a boyfriend at the time. Their relationship started when Matt Rife couldn’t get a flight out of Mississippi due to tornado warnings. Despite his manager offering to rebook him flights he kept refusing so he could spend more time with Jessica.

Matt explained how he “stayed an extra two days just so I could keep hanging out with her. I was really trying, which was such a sh*tty thing to do, she had a boyfriend.” Despite Jessica’s relationship, Matt felt that they had a “wonderful connection” and “really good chemistry off the bat.” Matt admitted to being “obsessed with her.”

Matt went back to Los Angeles, and when he knew Jessica was also in Los Angeles visiting her family, he reached out to her. He said: “When she got back to L.A. I called her and was like ‘Hey, do you wanna come out?’ and she was like ‘You know, I have a boyfriend and I just don’t think it’s appropriate that we be friends because obviously, you like me.'”

After that, the two didn’t speak for a year until Jessica had split up with her boyfriend. Backstage at the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit in October 2023, Matt opened up about how Jessica has been key in helping him stay grounded and take care of himself.

He explained: “She forces me to take personal time, obviously, and I love that. Whenever she’s like, ‘Can we have tomorrow for ourselves?’ I’m like, ‘Thank you. I would love to have that.’” He added, “She’s the most concerned about my sleep problem. She’s always making sure I’m eating that day and making sure I get my work done so that I can have the free time.”

Lucy Hale

Before he met Jessica it was reported that Matt Rife was in a brief relationship with Lucy Hale. In July 2023, Page Six called Matt and Lucy’s romance a “fling.”

Earlier in 2023, Matt also opened up about his experiences with dating during an interview with Esquire. Matt said: “I kind of hate dating. I know I am just in my mid-to-late 20s, but still, I do want a wife and a family and a prominent home life that makes me feel comfortable, safe, and is my peace. But when I’m touring six days a week, 52 weeks out of the year, it’s incredibly hard to maintain a relationship.”

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale and Matt Rife reportedly dated over five years ago when Kate was 43 and Matt was 21. Whilst their relationship was very private, Matt spoke negatively about Kate when she started dating Pete Davidson. During a March 2019 interview with TMZ, Matt encouraged Pete to “run away” from Kate.

He went on to warn Pete, “Enjoy it while you can. I hope they’re both happy, I hope that it can build to where it’s an established, good relationship. I wish them both the best. I hope they’re happy. I don’t really have any solid advice, just be careful.”

In October of 2023, Matt backtracked on his comments to Pete and Kate and apologised to them when he did an interview with ELLE. Matt explained: “I gave the advice to be careful because I had just gotten out of a relationship with somebody where I unfortunately found out we weren’t compatible.

“And I always want people to, you know, protect their emotions and their personal feelings. I regret saying that. Pete, if you’re out there, sorry I said that. Kate, I also apologise that I said that. I shouldn’t have said that.”
