Netflix Original doc about lab chemists secretly taking drugs has just dropped
The series covers ‘one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in history’
Hayley SoenNetflix has just released yet another true crime documentary – this one called How To Fix A Drug Scandal. The Netflix Original series is all about the cases of two crime lab chemists who were found out to be taking the drugs they were meant to be testing.
The four-part series also looks at how this caused a massive misconduct case and resulted in thousands of criminal convictions being overturned and costing the state millions in payouts.

How To Fix A Drug Scandal is all about a lab chemist who took the drugs she was meant to be testing
How To Fix A Drug Scandal is a four-part docuseries that tells the full story of the 2013 arrest of crime drug lab chemist, Sonja Farak, for tampering with evidence. Over time it was revealed she had also been using the drugs that she was tasked with testing.
Sonja Farak was addicted to the drugs, including liquid meth, and she would falsify lab results and sample what was brought into her lab in her workplace and at home. It was also soon revealed the same thing had been happening with a second chemist, Annie Dookhan.

The two chemists were also found to be faking the results of tests they had carried out in their criminal evidence labs which meant thousands of convictions were up in the air.
The documentary also looks into Farak’s addiction struggles and how by her using the evidence it caused many wrongful convictions and also allowed guilty people walk free. The series also takes a deep dive into the justice system, and how this was able to happen for so long, completely unnoticed.
The official Netflix synopsis reads: “Two drug lab chemists’ shocking crimes cripple a state’s judicial system and blur the lines of justice for lawyers, officials and thousands of inmates.”
