Here’s what the term ‘soaking’ actually means on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
Warning: It is absolutely grim
I keep overhearing The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast discuss the term ‘soaking’, and while I’m scared to know the answer, we need to get to grips with the actual meaning behind it. First there was their code phrase, ‘Fruity Pebbles,’ and that was gross enough.
Blogger Sofia Franklyn once revealed on the Dear Media podcast what soaking means in Mormon religion. She said ‘soaking’ is where a man’s you-know-what is inserted into a lady’s private parts, but no movement or grinding happens, as it would in typical intimacy.
It’s a way of Mormons finding (literally!) a loop hole around not being able to go the whole way with each other until they’re married. You park it in there, and then you’re technically not having s*x, and apparently you can even ask a friend to push a mattress so it moves?!
During an appearance on Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey, Mayci Neeley revealed that she’s never tried soaking. She said that her and her husband “went straight past soaking to the real thing,” and explained there’s other words used, such as “docking” and “grazing”.

She explained: “Some people soak and they don’t have someone shake the bed. They just sit in there, and then there’s people who have someone shake the bed, but they don’t actually do the motion.” Co-star Jessi also revealed she has not done soaking, either.
Jessi said on the It Girl YouTube channel: “I’m a bad Mormon, I just go straight to s*x. Technically, soaking means you’re still a virgin, because you’re not thrusting yourself. So sometimes they just sit still, so no e***ulating, I’m assuming, so bad.”
