60-hour fasts to cutting out sugar: The insane amount of prep Survivor winner had to do
She would still work out during the fasts
Savannah Louie just took the Survivor 49 crown home as this season’s official winner, but it wasn’t an easy ride even before she went on the CBS show. From 60-hour fasts to cutting out certain food and drink groups, she made sure she was prepared as she possibly could be.
She put on 10lbs before the show, as well as done a big fast at the start of each week, knowing there would be a lack of food. Savannah also done fasts between 48 and 60 hours, cut out alcohol, sugar and caffeine, and would work out during those fasts.

Savannah wouldn’t drink any water during a work out until after, and only ate whole foods. This went on for three months before Fiji, and said: “When I first started this routine it was so tough. But by the time I was ready to leave, I had gotten used to pushing my body.”
She added: “I’m so glad I did – but at the same time it was not sustainable for me for the rest of my life.” Savannah explained how she’d have her final meal on a Sunday evening, before working out, and then doing two workouts on the following day.

She’d then eat nothing until Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, after doing yet two more workouts. Outside of her fast, she’d eat whatever she wanted, and said: “I definitely wasn’t training for muscle necessarily – just trying to get used to that pain!”
Savannah revealed that several of the Survivor cast would get stomach aches due to the hunger, which you “forget about after a while.” She done all of this fasting so that she “wouldn’t have withdrawal from things that her body is used to” on the show.
