As the 100 chefs battle it out on Culinary Class Wars, fans are curious to know more about the show’s ‘convenience store recipes’. As many people tune into the new Netflix competition series, it seems lots of them are keen to get cracking in the kitchen themselves.
Make the Culinary Class Wars Pad Thai
As Culinary Class Wars gets underway, the participants are tasked with creating dishes from convenience store items in episode 8.
Using ingredients from the store, the contestants must create a “delicious and inventive dish.”
The round sees the chefs grabbing things from the shelves “left and right,” before they begin conjuring up their creations.
Cooking Maniac opts for a pad Thai to try and impress the judges.
The pad Thai dish is made with the following ingredients:
- Instant noodles (2 packs)
- Chicken breast (80g)
- Crab sticks (100g)
- Whelk (80g)
- Onion (100g)
- Garlic (3-4 cloves)
- Bean sprouts (80g)
- Canola oil
- Oyster sauce (2 tbsp)
- Ramyeon seasoning (2 packets)
- Sugar (1 tbsp)
- Soy Sauce (1.5 tbsp)
- Lemon juice
- Egg (1)
Ramyeon Pad Thai recipe
Per the Culinary Class Wars X (Twitter) account, here’s how to whip up the pad Thai:
- Blanch the noodles and bean sprouts in boiling water, cool in ice water, and remove excess moisture.
- Slice onion and garlic.
- Stir fry onion and garlic in canola oil, add soy sauce, and fry.
- Add ramyeon seasoning and stir fry until fully dissolved.
- Add chicken breast, crab sticks, and whelk and stir fry.
- Next, add noodles and bean sprouts and stir-fry altogether.
- Sprinkle sugar evenly and drizzle with lemon juice.
- Top with a fried egg and serve!
Chestnut Tiramisu with convenience store ingredients
During episode 8’s challenge, Napoli Matfia creates a chestnut tiramisu.
Here’s how to make the dish at home for yourself.
Ingredients
- Packet of snack chestnuts
- Milk (500ml)
- Cream cheese (250g)
- Whole wheat biscuits
- Toffee nut latte
- Heavy cream (400ml)
- Chocolate
- Granola
Recipe
- Boil chestnuts with milk and blend into a puree.
- Mix puree with cream cheese. Chill in the freezer for 30 minutes then mix with heavy cream.
- Mix four whole wheat biscuits with toffee nut latte to make the base.
- Stack the base in three layers with the cream mixture.
- Grate slightly frozen chocolate over the top.
- Toast granola in frying pan and sprinkle on top.
Whip up a Ramyeon You Po Mian
Jung Ji-sun makes a ramyeon you po main during episode 8.

Ingredients
- Cheongyang peppers (6)
- Minced garlic (3 cloves)
- Oyster sauce (20g)
- Sugar (20g)
- Heated dumpling filling (50g)
- Canned corn (2 tbsp)
- Onion (1)
- Instant ramyeon noodles (1 pack)
- Ramyeon soup seasoning (1/2 a packet)
- Cooking oil (1 ladle)
Recipe
- Roast the chili peppers in a dry pan until slightly charred.
- Finely chop the roasted chili peppers, mix with minced garlic, oyster sauce, sugar, and heated dumpling filling to make the sauce.
- Boil the noodles and drain.
- On top of the cooked noodles, place the corn, chili sauce, chopped onions, and soup seasoning.
- Finish the dish by pouring the ladle of boiling cooking oil over the top.
