Euphoria has done it again. In season three episode seven, ‘Rain or Shine’, Sydney Sweeney performs Cassie’s most explicit scene yet, and to say it’s raised a few eyebrows would be an understatement. Ever since the third chapter of the HBO series premiered, Sam Levinson has been accused of writing Cassie’s storyline as a “humiliation ritual”, kicking off with her posing as a puppy for her OnlyFans – but that was only the beginning. Since then, we’ve seen Cassie in a drug-fuelled threesome, as a giantess (whose nipples break through glass), doing her best bridezilla impression, and most controversial of all, dressing up as an “adult baby” for her OF followers. Every episode unlocks a new degrading sequence for Sweeney to perform, culminating in this week’s instalment. And she does so by having sex with Dylan Reed (Homer Gere, aka Richard Gere’s son). The pair met prior to appearing on LA Nights together, and Maddy (Alexa Demie) puts them back in touch. They hang out at her apartment, where Cassie giggles and flirts, before urging him to take a selfie together (this way, she can get the passcode on his phone). In a jarringly sudden switch up, the scene then cuts to the two having frantic sex, with a topless Cassie screaming at the top of her lungs. It’s all a ruse to get him to stop and get a drink of water, at which point Cassie grabs his phone, takes a shot of her in bed, and captions it “World’s greatest f**k @itsjustmecassie.” the cassie sex scene was awful to watch#euphoria pic.twitter.com/XqPuIjRm7r — kat ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ (@babykxrt) May 25, 2026 Taking to X, one viewer wrote, “The Cassie sex scene was awful to watch,” while another said, “That Cassie sex scene scared the sh*t outta me.” A third added, “Cassie and Dylan scene was already unnecessary but a sex scene bru c’mon.” A fourth chimed in, “We didn’t even get a Cassie and Nate sex scene during all this bullsh*t man.” And a fifth commented, “That loud ass Cassie sex scene jumpscare… free me… I had my noise cancelling Beats on but I still lowered my volume.” And if that weren’t enough, we later see Cassie subjected to extreme violence when one of Naz’s henchmen turns up, grabs her by the throat, and throws her into a glass table, before hog-tying her to the bed. The whole episode has reignited the debate about whether Levinson and the writing team are purposely degrading the show’s female characters. Why is every clip I see of this show involving a woman being abused or humiliated? — Kylan Hurt | smilingkylan.eth (@SmilingKylan) May 25, 2026 “Why is every clip I see of this show involving a woman being abused or humiliated?” said one, while another wrote, “They’ve really gone far this time.” Not everyone is against the storyline however, including this person who wrote, “Cassie is possibly one of the most provocative characters to have appeared in a series in the last decade. “Sydney Sweeney’s performance in Euphoria is the kind of thing that will be remembered by the internet for many, many years.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
