Hailey Bieber gets brutally honest about always being pitted against Selena Gomez

It’s been years, but people still can’t seem to let go of the whole Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber triangle, and now Hailey has spoken out about how she feels being pitted against Selena all the time.

From endless online comparisons to wild theories, the two women have constantly been dragged into each other’s narratives, even though they’ve both moved on. Selena just got married to Benny Blanco, and people thought she copied Hailey and Justin’s 2018 wedding. While Hailey thrives with her skincare brand, husband Justin and their baby Jack Blue, she is constantly compared to Selena.

Both of them have made it clear that there’s no beef between them. But the internet just loves to keep the rivalry alive, especially when it comes to their beauty brands, Rare Beauty and Rhode, which now sit side by side on Sephora shelves.

In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Hailey Bieber opened up about how tiring it’s been to constantly be “pitted against other people,” particularly when she never asked for any of it.

“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people,” Hailey said. “I didn’t ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”

Basically, she’s over it, and she’s choosing to stay focused on herself instead. “I think there’s space for everybody,” she added, explaining that she’s most competitive against herself. She then said, “I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by.”

Hailey also shared that her husband, Justin Bieber, has been one of her biggest supporters. The couple share a 13-month-old son, Jack Blues Bieber. And she said that Justin is very involved when it comes to her products. “I test them on my husband, I test them on my friends. I’m product-obsessed,” she said.

Recently, Selena actually showed support for Hailey online. When Rhode announced its launch in Sephora stores earlier this year, Selena liked the post and later shared a quote on her Instagram story that read, “You matter. Your voice matters. Your heart matters. You are worth so much more than you know.” She also added the caption, “You know who you are and I’m cheering you on.”
