People think Selena Gomez made a sneaky dig at Justin Bieber on this new Disney show
It seems like it’s about him tbh
It looks like the Jelena drama isn’t over, even seven years on. People are now convinced that Selena Gomez just shaded her ex Justin Bieber during her return to Disney in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
For those who might’ve forgotten, Gomez and Bieber (affectionately dubbed Jelena back in the day) were pop culture’s golden couple through most of the 2010s. The two dated on and off between 2010 and 2018 before calling it quits for good. That same year, Bieber married model Hailey Baldwin, now Hailey Bieber, and the couple have since welcomed their first child, a son named Jack Blues, in August last year.

Gomez, meanwhile, has also moved on. After relationships with The Weeknd and DJ Zedd, she got engaged to music producer Benny Blanco. They married in an intimate Santa Barbara wedding last month.
But despite her happily-ever-after, some people think the Only Murders in the Building actress isn’t quite done referencing her past. In a recent Wizards Beyond Waverly Place episode, Gomez’s character Alex Russo, the same sarcastic wizard who made her famous, gets real with her on-screen daughter about heartbreak.
“And if you really like this guy, you should follow your heart,” Alex says.
Her daughter asks, “Really?” to which Alex replies: “Oh yeah, as someone whose type is bad boys who you think you can fix, but you can’t, so you end up writing songs about them… Oh, I know what I’m talking about.”

People were instantly convinced this was a not-so-subtle dig at Bieber. One X person wrote on X: “Seven years later, she’s still shading him? And she’s married?? WE WILL NEVER BE FREE.”
Another agreed: “That’s not Alex talking, that’s Selena. Alex Russo never wrote songs about bad boys.”
Of course, not everyone agrees. One person was quick to point out that Gomez didn’t write the script: “You do know she doesn’t write the show, right? Or are you actually that stupid?”
Whether it’s deliberate shade or just a cheeky coincidence, it proves that people will never let Jelena rest.
