Katy Perry’s friend reveals the real reason she’s dating ex-prime minister Justin Trudeau now

We all know by now that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have been a thing since the summer, and now her friend has revealed the real reason she’s dating him.

In July, it was reported that after nine years of being on and off, Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom had officially split. The two share a five-year-old daughter, Daisy. According to Us Weekly, the breakup was “amicable” but still emotional, with a source saying it had been “a long time coming.”

Now, Katy seems to have officially moved on with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. They’ve been spotted together more than once, and a source close to Katy has now given insight into their relationship and why she’s with him.

They have an ‘easy connection’

According to People, Katy and Justin first met in Montreal in July, where they grabbed dinner and drinks and apparently hit it off right away. They were later spotted walking a dog and having dinner at Le Violon. Also, Justin attended her Lifetimes Tour concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre two days later.

The source said, “When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch. They have many shared interests and a lot to talk about. But Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then.”

After that, things moved fast. The insider added, “He even flew to California to see her during a tour break. They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”

Most recently, the two were photographed kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara. It almost confirmed what everyone had already guessed, it’s getting serious.

‘They have a lot in common’

Katy’s been through a lot emotionally this year. But as they kept in touch, she realised they shared more than just easy conversation. They were both navigating big life changes.

A separate source told People, “They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes. She is travelling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”

Essentially, both are in the middle of starting fresh. And, according to those close to them, they’ve found some comfort in each other.

Neither Katy nor Justin has commented publicly on the relationship yet.
