‘I didn’t realise’: Leigh reveals the real reason she went on MAFS UK with her ‘walls up’

People feel bad for Leah

Guys, I think we might have judged Leigh too fast because the more she speaks about her feelings and emotions during MAFS UK season 10, the more I’m starting to understand her perspective.

Though our perception of Leigh has become more positive with each new episode drop from Channel 4, those first few episodes of MAFS UK were, let’s say, divisive. The crystal-loving bombshell seemed instantly put off by her gorgeous wife, Leah, and while Leigh has since blamed elements of “attitude” on the edit, people did not mince their words on Twitter.

“Is there anything you do like, Leigh? Miserable spoilt brat,” one person wrote, as another said, “I’m sorry but Leigh is a straight up d*ck… If you’re going into something like this, you should be willing to at least share a room with someone. Like, if you’re that guarded, then don’t go on MAFS.”

Though I did somewhat agree with the sentiment (the tone is another thing entirely), Leigh has since explained some of her thought patterns in a series of Instagram stories. I think we might have misjudged her.

Responding to someone who wondered why she bothered going on reality TV if she was not “ready to open up”, Leigh explained how she wasn’t fully aware of her “unhealed” parts.

“I didn’t go into the show knowing that I was going to find it as difficult as I did, and I’m actually really grateful that I did this experiment because it showed me the unhealed parts of myself,” she said.

Going into the Channel 4 experiment, Leigh believed she had moved past previous relationships and the issues they sparked. But looking back, she didn’t realise how hard being “forced” to be vulnerable “at speed” would really be.

“It wasn’t that I walked into it with a load of problems that I hadn’t dealt with, I just wasn’t aware of how intense they were,” she added.

Other people supported MAFS UK’s Leigh

Though some of the questions were negative, with one questioning why she made Leah sleep in another room, others supported Leigh and the way she went about her marriage on MAFS UK 2025. As one pointed out, there’s no expectation to instantly click with your husband or wife. It’s just expected that you work at it, which Leigh has been doing.

Addressing the intimacy challenge, Leigh argued that the “pressure” of talking about a sexual attraction made it more difficult to develop the emotional one.

“I just think it’s so important to let these things happen naturally,” she added. “I don’t think there needs to be pressure or rush on intimacy.”
