Here’s where the TikTok ‘every Christmas, I’ll be there’ sound is actually from, and it’s wild

My TikTok For You Page right now is absolutely plastered in videos using a very specific sound, that up until doing the research for this article I was convinced was from something suitably menacing. Not that the videos using it are menacing – they’re actually all absolutely hilarious. The sound itself features a threatening voice saying “Every night, at dinner, I’ll be there. Every birthday party, I’ll be there – every CHRISTMAS, I’ll be there!” People are using it in ridiculously hilarious ways, but where the TikTok “I’ll be there” sound comes from is actually totally ridiculous.

The clip is taken from the bizarre 2017 children’s movie by DreamWorks: The Boss Baby.

DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby follows a suit-wearing, briefcase-toting infant (voiced by Alec Baldwin) who is actually a secret agent from BabyCorp. He is sent to stop puppies from stealing all the world’s love and attention. The story is told through the eyes of his older brother Tim, who initially sees his new sibling as an overbearing baby but soon discovers the corporate plot at play. The film is a family comedy that mixes sibling rivalry with a whimsical take on corporate life. Justice for the dogs, sorry.

The “I’ll be there” TikTok sound scene is from a moment where the Boss Baby is explaining to Tim that if the baby fails his mission the BabyCorp he works for will take away the formula that lets him behave like an adult, and that he’ll be cursed to be with Tim throughout all the stuff he reels off in the sound.
