Um, are Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo beefing again?! The Bluebird Cafe drama explained
Here’s what’s actually going on
Fans are buzzing after the latest drama at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe, where whispers of tension between pop powerhouses Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo have everyone talking. But what really went down at the Bluebird Cafe? Here’s the full story of the rumoured feud and what it means for the two stars.
So, how did the drama begin?
The drama started when a resurfaced video claimed that Olivia Rodrigo’s team had asked for all visible signs of Taylor Swift to be removed ahead of her 2023 performance at the Bluebird Cafe.
Naturally, Swifties spiralled and speculation about “Vampire” drama flared up again. But now the cafe has spoken out, and they’re not here for the drama.
‘Nobody asked us to remove Taylor Swift’
In a statement posted to X, the Bluebird Cafe’s general manager Erica Nichols cleared things up, saying Olivia Rodrigo and her team had nothing to do with the photo being taken down.
“We removed an image of Taylor Swift that was in a position where filming was taking place,” she said. “We are required, legally, to remove images that are under copyright. We don’t own those images, so we cannot use them in any broadcast.”
The truth? It’s really not that complicated
“The employee spoke carelessly…maybe trying to be funny.”
The whole rumour started after a clip went viral of an employee saying “We vowed to remove any visible signs of Taylor Swift” before Olivia’s set. “We respect the girlies,” he added, which…fair.

But the cafe now says he didn’t actually know why the image was taken down, and that it was nothing to do with either artist.

“This was not anything in between the two artists,” Nichols said. “Taylor is a super friend of the Bluebird, and we hold her in the highest esteem. We were honoured to have Olivia here, and please know they both live extremely high in our regard.”
The context: A rumoured Rodrigo-Swift feud
Since Vampire dropped last year, fans have been convinced Olivia Rodrigo was calling out Taylor Swift over their songwriting drama – particularly when she accused a mystery fame vampire of “bleedin’ me dry”.
Following SOUR, Olivia gave Taylor 50% of the royalties on two songs after fans pointed out melodic similarities, something which Olivia has never seemed thrilled about. But when asked directly about any beef, Olivia shut it down completely.
“I don’t have beef with anyone,” she told Rolling Stone. “I’m very chill. I keep to myself…There’s so many Twitter conspiracy theories. I only look at alien conspiracy theories.”

So no, Olivia didn’t demand Taylor’s face be removed from the walls. She was too busy singing about vampires.
