Man arrested outside Cardiff Castle for possession of an imitation firearm

Kieron Young of Butetown has been charged and will appear in court later this month


A man has been arrested outside Cardiff Castle under suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm.

Kieron Young, 43, from Butetown has since been charged for the offence, following his arrest just after midday on 2nd June.

Jacob Stewart-Brown filmed the arrest, which was reported to have occurred at 12:37pm. In the video, the man can be seen being detained and escorted by officers to a police vehicle.

TODAY: Officers were called to Castle Street, Cardiff at 12.08 today (June 2) to reports of a man with a weapon. Armed officers attended, detained a man, and confirmed the weapon to be a toy gun. Firearms officers were also present at the scene.

A South Wales Police spokesperson told The Cardiff Tab: “Kieron Young, aged 43, of Butetown, Cardiff, has been charged with possession an imitation firearm in a public place following an incident on June 2. He is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on June 17.”
