MAFS’s Carina reacts to an official complaint about her outfit at Australian Fashion Week
People were concerned about her choice of coat
The MAFS Australia bride Carina had to issue a statement after she wore a controversial outfit at Australian Fashion Week.
Carina shared a photo to Instagram of her wearing nude-coloured shapeware and a “vintage fur coat”. When describing her outfit to the Daily Mail, she said: “I bought this fur coat from New York in Brooklyn and I’ve got SKIMS on underneath and literally pantyhose stockings.” These comments led some people to be concerned that Carina was wearing a coat made from actual animal fur.
Wildlife materials including fur, wild animal skins and feathers are banned from the runways at Australian Fashion Week, according to World Animal Protection.
The animal activism Instagram account wrote: “Australian Fashion Week banned fur and exotic skins. Deliberately in defiance of the AFW policy, Carina Mirabile decided to wear real fur at Australian Fashion Week. An official complaint has been made to ban Carina from AFW because of her breach of animal welfare policy.”
Carina has now released a statement clarifying that her controversial coat is made from faux fur. She wrote on her Instagram story: “It’s nor real fur FYI”. Her make-up artists commented underneath: “She’s a vegan baddieee”.
Plenty of the MAFS Australia 2025 contestants are also at Australian Fashion Week. Adrian, Clint, Jacqui, Ryan and Tony are kicking about the place. Eliot and Jamie are staying together in a very stylish Airbnb.
