Uh, Megan Thee Stallion broke a huge rule at the Met Gala 2025 and the video is hilarious

Megan Thee Stallion broke a really strict rule at the 2025 Met Gala. I’m so pleased she did, because the video footage is seriously funny.

Fans of the Met Gala (or fans of making snarky comments about the outfits at the Met Gala) may know that celebrities are banned from using their phones inside the event. Guests aren’t allowed to take pictures themselves, or stream anything to social media. I guess the logic behind this is that the celebs should be socialising in-person. Plus, less video footage helps the event stay mysterious and exclusive. Staff actually patrol the party and “politely remind” anyone on their phone about this rule.

Megan Thee Stallion decided to flat-out ignore this, though. She “snuck” her phone into the party and filmed several minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of the 2025 Met Gala. She posted the lengthy video to Instagram for us all to see, which is very considerate of her. The caption reads: “Hottie Cam in thee MET GALA 👀😏.”

She does admit during the video that “we’re not supposed to have our phones”, but carried on filming anyway. Queen.

The video starts with Megan Thee Stallion, Doechii and Angel Reese at their dinner table. You get a really good view of the glamorous event inside the event. Megan filmed the girls taste testing each of the fantasy appetisers. They offer their thoughts on cornbread and caviar, white truffle lobster roll, vegan lox (which Megan considered “funny looking”), chicken and plantain, truffle topped cheese, curry chicken patties (which were apparently “a little dry”, and Hamachi sushi.

I’m also deeply impressed that all these iconic girlies managed to eat appetisers so elegantly with such long nails.

The video gets wilder as the night progresses. We see people downing an impressive array of drinks. Megan says “we’re going on a scavenger hunt”, then films herself weaving through the Met Gala dance floor to rediscover her friends. She also pauses to compliment the fits of Lupita Nyong, Cynthia Erivo, Serena Williams and Ciara.
