Sun’s out, fun’s out: The best ways to soak up the summer sun in Lincoln

Nowhere makes us happier than Mailbox’s beer garden in the sun.

The sun is out in Lincoln and we have our cocktails at the ready to enjoy it! Here are our top ways to make the most of this glorious weather in Lincoln whilst it lasts, because we know it’ll be raining again in two weeks.

Explore the city

We love to take any opportunity possible to walk around our gorgeous city! So what better weather than this to wander around with your friends, shades on and an iced coffee in hand, as you discover the true beauty of Lincoln in the sun.

Whether it is strolling down the Brayford or trekking up Steep Hill, a sunny day can give us a new appreciation for the spots that make up our city. On a really clear day, you could do the the Lincoln Castle medieval wall walk? For just £10.50, students can enjoy the sights of Lincoln from up above.

The weather is even a great opportunity to spend more time on campus, relaxing with a book, or most likely sat outside the Swan with a £2.75 Carling.

Go for a picnic

Sun’s out, sarnies out! There is nothing better than a picnic in the sun.

If you’re missing some green space, the Arboretum is Lincoln’s little haven. We all know the beauty of uphill Lincoln, why not appreciate it in the sun, with a sandwich in hand?

It’s a cheap, easy and student-friendly way to enjoy a sunny day. Throw together some food you already have in the cupboard, grab your mates, a blanket and a speaker, and soak up those sun rays.

Enjoy a drink

Is it even British summer time if you’re not writing your assignments from the comfort of a beer garden?

One thing we pride ourselves most of as Lincoln students, is our wide and wonderful variety of pubs and bars. Whether its sunbathing in the outdoor spaces of Craft or Carousel, enjoying a good ol’ pitcher at spoons or taking in the beauty of the Brayford at The Royal William, Lincoln pubs have it all to offer.

Even if you go alcohol free, the most important part is the summer vibes spent with friends.

Find a good study spot

When the sun makes an appearance, campus turns into the perfect student hotspot!

We already have the most beautiful, scenic campus, but sprinkle a bit of sunny weather in there and you’re golden.

Enjoy a drink at Towers, play a game of football on the grass, set up your laptop and get them assignments done on a bench outside, anything that gets you outside.

Remember: assignments will get done but Lincoln sunshine will not stick around forever!

Venture out

Although we have a beautiful city around us, sometimes we need to break out a bit.

Lincolnshire is the second largest county in the UK, meaning that there are a wide variety of days-out on offer.

Most importantly, Lincoln is only an hour away from the sea. With a short bus or train ride, you and your friends could be enjoying an ice cream and a cone of chips on the beach in no time.

Whether it is Skegness, Mablethorpe or somewhere quieter, the seaside is calling your name!
