It’s time to split the G: Our guide to Guinness in Cardiff this St Patrick’s Day
Or ‘Baby Guinness’ if you’re not a fan
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Cardiff might be the capital of Wales, but it sure knows how to put on a good celebration for the Irish annual bank holiday.
Each year, we see the streets filled with party-goers and Guinness fiends. The question is: where is the best place to acquire the national drink on a day like today?
This guide won’t cover every pint available in the city, but it will give you a very decent rundown of the perfect bars and pubs for tonight’s (or today’s) celebrations.
1. Woodville
A classic student dig.
The Woody has everything you need from pub snacks to a wide variety of beers.
It’s Guinness pour, however, is top notch and definitely one to try if you’re looking to stay in Cathays.
2. The Taf
For brilliant student prices and easy access to the pub post-lectures, why not head to The Taf.
For the whole weekend, they have had £4.20 Guinness’, which they say is the cheapest in Cardiff.
If you want to save your money, we couldn’t recommend anywhere more.
3. Flute & Tankard
Perhaps this isn’t your usual Monday night location, but the Flute and Tankard offer the perfect cosy vibe if you want to enjoy your Guinness with a couple of friends.
And, if you want to carry on your night-out, Central Bar spoons is only across the road.
4. Head of Steam
This pint will be perfect if you fancy venturing all the way into town, especially if O’Neills is on the cards for afterwards.

With plenty of seating indoors and out the front, this pub will serve a brilliant atmosphere for your St Paddy’s Day plans.
5. The Flora
Another Cathays hotspot, The Flora will provide you with heart-warming vibes and an equally heart-warming pint.
For those of you that only fancy popping down to the local, or want to crawl onto the next after the Woody, this is the place for your Guinness antics.
6. Temple Bar

It would almost be offensive not to mention Temple Bar.
As Cardiff’s closest night out to the real deal in Dublin, you *have* to make your way over here this evening.
With live music and endless Guinness – you will not regret going all the way into central for this one.
Thank us later 🙂
Oh, just make sure to get to the pints before everyone else. I wouldn’t be surprised if pubs see a lot of sold out barrels by tomorrow morning (maybe even this evening) …
