Inside Aimee Lou Wood’s vibey astrology girlie life while she slays on The White Lotus
Who knew she’s really into poetry?
Aimee Lou Wood is blessing our screens with her presence right now as she stars in two hit shows – The White Lotus and Toxic Town. We love her more than ever. Here’s a look at what she gets up to when she’s not busy making iconic television.
She’s a proper Mancunian
Aimee Lou Wood was born in Stockport, and grew up in a Manchester suburb called Bramhall. She went to a private school called Cheadle Hulme School. Her dad’s a car dealer, her mum works for Childline, and her sister Emily is a make-up artist.
In an interview with the Guardian, Aimee described her childhood as “turbulent”. Her father struggled with addiction, and would take off for days at a time without warning. Aimee said: “He would go out for a pint and not come back for days. He once went out and didn’t come back for 10 weeks because he’d been to the World Cup in Korea.”
She continued: “He was a party animal on the scene in Manchester so he would hang out with celebrities and Manchester City football players; he had a massive ego, so that gave him validation.”
Aimee has kept her gorgeous Manchester accent for most of her acting roles.
She moved to London to attend the very prestigious drama school RADA. She shared a flat with her younger sister Emily for a while, and now lives in an apartment in south east London.
Aimee Lou Wood had a bad Instagram filter phase just like the rest of us
Most Read
The depths of Aimee Lou Wood’s Instagram date back to her late teens in 2013-2015. There are plenty of deeply outdated filters, very Pinterest-y quotes, polaroids of London to make her look artsy, and a cardboard cut-out of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock (???). She had a dorky hipster Tumblr-y phase like the rest of us in 2014 and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Her teeth have affected her self-esteem
Apparently Aimee used to worry she couldn’t make it as an actress because Americans don’t have teeth like hers. She stressed she’d be rejected for TV roles because of her teeth.
She told Stylist: “I had it in my brain that I’m not conventional-looking enough and that’s a mental barrier I’ve had to overcome.
“And now, of course, I’m getting hundreds of messages from people going, ‘Oh my god, you’ve got teeth like mine. Now I go to school and people think I’m cool because I look like Aimee.’ Instead of it being ‘Bugs Bunny’ or whatever.”
She dated a co-star from Sex Education
Aimee started going out with Connor Swindells (aka Adam on Sex Education) in January 2019. They broke up sometime before March 2020.
Aimee Lou Wood is an astrology girlie
Makes perfect sense, to be honest. She told Rolling Stone she first felt connected to her White Lotus character Chelsea when she saw in the script Chelsea liked astrology. Valid. Aimee considers herself “severely fazed” because of her Scorpio moon.
Her birthday is 3rd February, so her sun is in Aquarius, and her rising sign is Taurus. Just in case anyone was wondering.
She’s really into poetry and I love that for her
Aimee frequently posts her favourite poems on her Instagram story, and has a whole highlight dedicated to the topic.
Aimee has really been churning out TV shows

Ever since Sex Education wrapped, Aimee’s been extremely busy. So far in 2025, she’s starred in season three of The White Lotus and the Netflix show Toxic Town. She helped create a new BBC show called Film Club, which is expected to come out later this year. Honestly, how does she have the time?
