Body language expert weighs in on whether Maura Higgins and Danny Jones *really* kissed at Brits

In case you somehow missed it, there’s a video circling around of Danny Jones (that dude from McFly) and the global icon Maura Higgins possibly kissing at a 2025 Brit Awards afterparty. Some people reckon they’re properly making out in the video. Others think they might just have been leaning in to whisper something to each other? We asked a body language expert to analyse their behaviour, and offer her opinion on whether Danny Jones and Maura Higgins were actually kissing at the Brits party.

For context, the pair were both at Universal Music’s Brits afterparty. Maura and Danny were spotted chatting at a booth with Oti Mabuse, who was also in the I’m A Celebrity jungle with them. At around 3am, Maura and Danny walked into the foyer together. People claim to have spotted them kissing, and there’s a video circulating around in which they’re definitely getting very close. Fyi, Danny has been married to the model Georgia Horsley since 2014. Were Danny and Maura really kissing, or whispering, or something else?

The body language expert Inbaal Honigman told The Tab through casino.org that the pair didn’t seem to be trying to talk to each other over the noise of the party. She said: “The body language that one would expect around whispering is absent. Neither of them is seen cupping their hand to their mouth, or cocking their ear towards the other.

“Maura’s head approaches Danny once, twice – then pulling back, which makes it seem more kissy than whispery.

“Their faces meet three times, and whereas one or two of them may well be just whispers, the third and longest lean-in, is without a doubt a liplock.”

However, their body language didn’t seem to line up with a super romantic display, either. Inbaal continued, “The whole incident does not appear like a passionate encounter, because all the body language accessories around a romantic kiss are simply not there. They haven’t got their arms around each other, the pair aren’t leaning towards one another, their heads don’t remain close together – this isn’t an intimate display, it is playful.”

She added: “Danny and Maura’s interaction is a little confusing, which is entirely in keeping with the party vibe. When inhibitions are lowered, people are friendlier, sometimes over-friendly… It appears like a couple of playful little friendly kisses, followed by a longer, eyes-closed, misjudged overfamiliar lippy smooch.”
