Alex shares the real reason he ended things with Madison after the Love Is Blind pods

Imagine making it all the way to the end just to get dumped

One of the biggest plot points during Love Is Blind season eight so far has been the triangle/square involving Madison and Alex. Madison and Alex dated in the pods, whilst she also explored a connection with Mason, who was also exploring things with Meg. A lot of people all at once!

The first section of the show focused a lot on Madison and Alex, but at the end of the Love Is Blind pods, the pair didn’t get engaged. Madison had realised she liked Alex more and ended things with Mason, but this seemed to still be an issue in their connection. Madison and Alex then had an argument, and decided to not carry things on. It’s confused a lot of people.

Speaking to Today, Alex admitted he’s nervous to watch the show back, and has explained his side of the story. He said he was aware of their conflicts in the pods, such as different attachment styles, and said this made him wary of getting engaged.

He told the publication Madison’s approach to things was “trigger” for him, since it reminded him of past relationships and “could lead to some issues.”

“I went into that final date truly 50/50, not knowing if I was going to propose or end things,” he said. “It was a really big moment when all that went down. At that point, I still had hope that I was going to propose in the next couple hours. It really shook both of us, I think, when we had that disagreement. It was definitely a tough moment for me.”

Alex then explained the reason he decided to end things, and not go through with a proposal. “I think [Madison] and I were clearly on different pages in a couple different ways. I haven’t seen the episodes yet, but what had been discussed several times is attachment styles,” he explained.

“I think her and I are different attachment styles. I think it just is very apparent as the show goes on and as we progressed in the dates. I think she has different ways of dealing with conflict than I do, and again, that’s totally fine. There’s nothing right or wrong with either way, but I think we just realised that we are both on very different pages and that communication wasn’t going to be easy.

“There just wasn’t enough time at that point to figure out if that communication gap was going to be an issue or if we could overcome it or not. And I think it was just too much in the moment for us to move forward.”

When asked if he had any regrets over the decision, Alex added: “I was confident in the decision. If we could go back and do things again, I think it would have unfolded the same way. I’m glad that we got all of the issues out on the table the way we did so we could make that decision early on instead of moving forward and proposing and then going on the trip and then living together. I think it would have been a lot messier if that were to happen.”
