How to spend the perfect Galentines: A guide

Because everyone should enjoy Valentines, not just those annoying couples

Valentines day is fast approaching and as it is a Friday night it should be spent doing something fun, not wallowing like so many of us do on this fateful holiday, because your friends deserve to be shown some love too. So here are eight great ways to show your gals and pals just how much they matter to you, and have a fun Friday eve in the process (if you’re not already going to Neon).

1. Pizza and movie night

A classic Friday activity- pizza and a movie. You could watch a romcom at home, head to the cinema or just watch your fave film. As for the pizzas, you could splurge on a takeaway or just buy and cook them yourselves, depending on your budget. if you’re feeling really fancy you could even buy pizza bases and add toppings yourself.

2. Make a dessert or bake something

A great activity to do solo or with friends and always bound to create loads of fun, plus you get a tasty treat at the end of it so it’s always a win. Mug cakes are an especially easy option as chances are you’ll already have what you need in your house.

3. Go for breakfast

If mingling with loved up couples at a restaurant in the evening isn’t for you, a Valentines breakfast is a great second option. It’s a lovely way to start the day and pancakes should always be on the menu on Valentines day.

4. Make Valentines themed drinks

This could be done at your house or at a society social. It’s a great way to add a little Valentines flair to your Friday and could be a good evening activity in itself or be done for pres.

5. Bring a board night

This viral activity is perfect for a Galentines spread and easier than it looks!! Totally up to you what types of boards you do and whether you do it as a meal or as dessert, it’s a great activity to do with your friends or flatmates and tailorable to your tastes.

6. Self care evening

Self care evenings are always needed, but especially on what is basically national love day (though apparently according to Google that’s actually a thing and is on September 30th). It’s always important to look after yourself and pampering yourself and your friends can be a great way to spend February 14th.

7. Go for dinner

Who says only couples can go for dinner on Valentines? Spend the evening in style and head for dinner, Leamington has a great range of nice and affordable restaurants, my personal favourite is Red Hot Mamma.

8. Have a board games night

This is a great way to spend any evening but a Galentines board game night could be a great way to spend your day. You could pair it with drinks and dinner or by itself and how tame the games are are up to you!
