Celebrating Galentines in Cambridge
True love lasts a lifetime
For many, the imminent approach of Valentine’s Day may stir up panic and worries about last minute gift buying, images of rose bouquets and giant teddy bears, and a general sense of claustrophia or delight as colours of pink and red surround you from every side. Whilst many may be spending Valentine’s Day with a loved partner, I am here to tell you that February 14th is not just for celebrating romantic love, but to give you ideas of how to celebrate this day of love with your lovely friends!

A sea of pink and red
Cocktails (or mocktails):
Personally I will take any chance I can get to dress up fancy, and Valentine’s Day is one of those days. Put on a nice outfit, maybe some lipstick, and have a classy evening out with your gals. And even better, as Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year, you won’t have to show up hungover for a 9am lecture the next morning, and can have a lie in instead!
Watch the sunset with a picnic:
Cambridge may be severely lacking in hills, but the view from Castle Mound can actually be quite beautiful. And if it is too cloudy, at least you had a nice picnic with your friends. (Warning: this spot may be full of couples on romantic dates, so make sure to get there early for the best spots!)
Movie Night:

If the idea of being surrounded by adoring couples feels too much for you, have a cosy night in! Pop some popcorn, grab some cushions, snuggle up under some blankets, and have a relaxing evening with your wonderful friends. Much better, cheaper, and more comfortable than eating at a fancy restaurant with a date who has just mispronounced your name for the fourth time.

All gals deserve roses!
Pizza cooking evening:
If dinner is what you fancy, then why not invite your friends round and make your own pizzas? Roll out the dough, make the sauce, and add some toppings, and enjoy. And if your accommodation doesn’t have ovens or air fryers, you can always order a pizza delivery instead. Just don’t let any friendships with your gals be ruined by your differing opinions on whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza…

Just add wine!
Wine and Cheese night:
If you fancy the classiness of cocktails but also the cosiness of your own house, organise your own wine and cheese night. Light a few candles, invite your friends and ask them each to bring a different type of cheese, buy some cheap wine, and enjoy a relaxed evening of chatting.
After all, your Valentine may not be with you forever, but your gals with certainly have your back no matter what!
