Fundraiser set up in memory of ‘Sheffield Keeley’ raises over £1k in less than 24 hours
Keeley Thornton died last night after an incident in Sheffield city centre
A fundraiser has been set up in memory of Keeley Thornton, also known on TikTok as “Sheffield Keeley”.
The GoFundMe collection is being organised by Cherie Lowe, who appears to be a close friend of Keeley’s, to support her family after her unexpected death.
The page has a target of £3,400 and has already had 115 donations with over £1,200 already raised since yesterday.
The description on the fundraiser reads: “I’m fundraising for a young lady called Keeley Thornton known as ‘cotton wool’ to me but some others know her as Sheffield Keeley…
“She had a beautiful heart, anyone who knew the real Keeley knows this, we would all like to help all the family at this sad time.”
One word of support on the fundraising page reads: “Sleep tight sweetheart always will be loved and remembered in the Woodthorpe.”
Police were called to an incident at Arundel Gate at 6pm on Tuesday evening (14th January), where Keeley was found unconscious at the scene.
The 34-year-old was taken to hospital and sadly later pronounced dead.
South Yorkshire police have confirmed a 47-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance.
Keeley was known on TikTok as Sheffield Keeley for videos of her singing which had amassed over 1.6 billion views.
A local homelessness charity, The Archer Project, which had worked with Keeley said that she was “exploited for likes” before her death.
In a blog post, they said: “What we do know is that voyeuristic social media gurus worked against those of us who were supporting her. They made her life worse.
