Tommy Fury just revealed the REAL reason he split from Molly-Mae and it’s so sad
He’s opened up about what really happened for the first time
Days before Molly-Mae’s new documentary comes out, Tommy Fury has finally revealed the sad reason why they split.
In an exclusive interview with Men’s Health, he admitted that he developed a drinking problem after a boxing injury took a huge toll on his mental health.
“Cheating was never a thing. You can ask Molly this yourself. It was the drink, and the drink is not a good thing,” he said.
“You need to get a grip of it. If you’re in the same spot as me, where you just think that it’s going to cure all your problems, it doesn’t. You wake up even worse and you want to drink more to try and feel happy again. That’s the cycle of it.”
Tommy slammed the fake cheating rumours and confirmed: “We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore. It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink.”
He snapped all the ligaments in his hand and continued fighting through the pain for a while. However, he had to have reconstructive surgery and was forced to stop boxing, which really affected his mental health.
The boxer turned to alcohol as a replacement for his intense training, saying: “I thought, well what can I do? I can sit at a table and have a drink. I can do that. I’ve got one hand for that.”

“I’ve only lived for training and my family, and that was all snatched away from me. So what I did for fun is I started to drink quite a lot. I found that’s what made me feel better. When I didn’t drink, I’d just look at my hand and think, I might never be able to box again.”
Drinking is the only thing that made him feel “somewhat happy” so he’d go out and be “smashing Guinness left, right and centre”.
“Then later on in the night shots would come out. Most nights I would to drink to get black-out drunk. I think that’s what really took its toll on me.”
He’d still get up in the morning for his daughter Bambi no matter how rough he felt, but it soon took a toll on his relationship with Molly-Mae.
Tommy revealed he’s got himself out of that mindset now, but he wishes people had checked on how he was rather than instantly assuming he’d cheated on Molly and bombarding him with horrible messages.
“I’m not looking for sympathy. Whether I do the right thing or do the wrong thing, people are still going to hate me. As long as my family loves me. I just want to do my fights, earn my money, and look after my daughter.”
“I’m going to get back in the ring real soon and I’m going to pick up where I left off. I’m ready to do that now. I’ve wasted a year already in my life and I’m ready to pick back up and have a great 2025.”
