Metropolitan Police calls for new information on murder of uni student, Margaret Muller

She was killed over 20 years ago in Victoria Park

The Metropolitan Police has called for new information on the 2003 murder of American art student Margaret Muller.

Margaret was stabbed to death at age 27 in Hackney on a morning run through Victoria Park.

Detectives believe the unsolved murder may have been an unsuccessful robbery attempt.

Margaret had been studying at UCL’s Slade School of Fine Art and had her own art studio at the time of her death.

She was last seen alive on 1st February 2003 with friends in Camden, two days before her death.

Several arrests had previously been made since her murder including an Eminem impersonator who had previously killed a law student, but no further convictions were brought to trial.

The police is asking for witnesses to a suspect sprinting out of the Queen’s Gate entrance and past the Britannia pub.

After a public appeal was issued in 2011 Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall said: “Margaret was a talented young woman with a bright and exciting future ahead of her.

“That was all taken away when she was brutally struck down in Victoria Park eight years ago.

“Officers have worked tirelessly on this case and have managed to sift through literally hundreds of pieces of information and leads.

“Despite the tremendous support from the local community, we know that some people still hold vital information about Margaret’s murder.

“Together with information already gathered they could help us achieve justice for Margaret and her family and friends.

“We urge anyone with new information to come forward and assist us.”
