All the absolute bangers we forgot Benny Blanco wrote, from Teenage Dream to Moves like Jagger

I honestly didn’t realise Benny was behind so many of my fav tracks

Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are officially engaged, but considering all the songs he’s written, cramming nuptials into their packed schedules might be difficult.

Even though his missus is worth way more than him, Benny Blanco is no slouch when it comes to the music industry. He’s been active in various capacities since 2007 when he was mentored by genius songwriter and producer Dr. Luke who has worked with everyone from Nicki Minaj to One Direction, Pitbull to Kim Petras.

When he’s not lending his mind to the writing process, Benny is releasing music of his own. Some of his tunes include Eastside, I Can’t Get Enough, Roses, Better to Lie, and I Found You.

Even if you aren’t aware of Benny’s own tracks, I’m betting you’ve jammed to at least one – if not all – of these undeniable bops. He was part of the writing process for all of them, though it’s worth mentioning that no piece of art is created from a single person. It’s a team effort!

1. Moves like Jagger – Maroon 5

In 2011, Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger landed at number two on the yearly UK chart as all of us struggled to exorcise the catchy beat from our minds. The iconic tune was written by Adam Levine, Ammar Malik, Benny Blanco, and Shellback, with the last two also serving as producers.

2. Best Part of Me – Ed Sheeran

3. Blah Blah Blash – Kesha

4. Caught in the Middle – Charlie XCX

5. Circus – Britney Spears

There are few artists with a bigger cultural impact than Britney Spears, and Benny Blanco helped to steer the creative direction of several of her projects. In 2011, he worked with Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly on Britney’s Circus album.

6. Crying in the Club – Camila Cabello

7. Diamonds – Rihanna

8. Die Young – Kesha

9. Dynamite – Taio Cruz

10. Eenie Meenie – Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston

Benny Blanco has worked on several Justin Bieber tracks, which is quite awkward when you think about Selena’s relationship history. Some even say Justin is trying to communicate with her via Instagram.

Anyways, back to Benny. There was a massive writing team on Sean Kingston’s grating track which included Carlos Battey, Steven Battey, Marcos Palacios, Ernest Clark, Benny Blanco, and the two singers.

11. Heart Attack – Trey Songz

12. Kill Em with Kindness – Selena Gomez

13. Lonely Together – Avicii

14. Love – Lana Del Rey

15. Love Yourself – Justin Bieber

16. Maps – Maroon 5

While working under Dr Luke in 2014, Benny helped to produce perhaps the most iconic Maroon 5 track of all time, Maps.

17. My First Kiss – 3OH!3

18. No Sleep – Wiz Khalifa

19. Payphone – Maroon 5

20. Señorita –  Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

When they were not caught in a love triangle trying to convince people they were actually in love, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello put out some fairly decent music. Acting as a producer, Benny worked with Shawn, Camila, Ali Tamposi, Jack Patterson, and even Charli XCX to write the tune.

21. Teenage Dream – Katy Perry

22. Tik Tok – Kesha

23. Who Dat Girl – Flo Rida
