Meet Angus Neill, the model we all mistook for Cillian Murphy in the 28 Years Later trailer
We all owe Cillian Murphy a massive apology
Whoops! With the exciting news that 28 Days Later is getting a well-deserved sequel after more than 20 years, we got a little ahead of ourselves and mistook Angus Neill’s zombie for noneother than Cillian Murphy.
When the 28 Years Later trailer was released earlier this week, a continuation of the 28 Days Later franchise, people spotted who they believed to be Cillian Murphy’s character Jim from the first film. He was notably different in that he was a zombie, and the silly mistake unwittingly started a viral sensation before the true actor came forward.

The zombie is actually Angus Neill, not Cillian Murphy
If you can get past the trailer’s fear-inducing backing track then you might have spotted a decrepid-looking zombie rising out of the grass behind 28 Years Later’s Jodie Comer. I’m pleased to announce that it’s not Cillian Murphy’s Jim.
The seconds-long cameo is in actual fact newcomer Angus Neill who was spotted by 28 Days Later’s director Danny Boyle and cast after a meet-up.
“Danny told me he’d always had me in mind for the role. So we met up, hit it off, and I agreed to take part,” Angus told The Guardian. “On set, he has an extraordinary ability to hypnotise you, and working with him on the film was a very, very intense experience.”
Not much is known about Angus besides his inclusion in 28 Years Later, though he is represented by Ugly Models and has a 28-inch waist. His arresting looks have seen him work on projects such as fashion campaigns and a music video for Katie Gregson-MacLeod. As per his Instagram account, Angus is an art dealer with a passion for crafts, particularly old masters such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Rembrandt.
Unfortunately, besides a producer credit, it’s yet to be seen whether Cillian Murphy will be appearing in 28 Years Later. But all hope is not lost, as he has maintained his eagerness to join the film.
“I didn’t know that – I would be there in a flash. I made two movies with both of those guys, and I would love to work with them again. Of course, I’m there,” he told The Independent.
