Right, how did we all miss the glaring signs that Love Island’s Nicole and Ciaran had split?

Nicole and Ciaran confirmed speculation on Monday

Former Love Island stars Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies announced their decoupling earlier this week, and now looking back I’m kicking myself for missing the glaring signs that they’d split.

Despite earlier telling The Tab that they were still “very much a couple”, Nicole and Ciaran issued another statement on Monday that confirmed their split.

“Over the last couple of days Nicole and Ciaran have made the mutual decision to part ways. They have left the relationship on amicable terms, and will remain good friends going forward,” they told us.

Now, looking back at their relationship after leaving Love Island in July, the signs were all there. To really rub salt in the wound, here are all the glaring signs that both you and I missed.

They might have stayed in separate rooms on a trip to London

After just six months together, Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies reportedly attended their management’s Christmas party separately earlier this month. They travelled to London separately, and though they were presumably at the event together, Ciaran posted Instagram stories from a separate hotel room to his boo.

Nicole purged her Instagram

Perhaps the biggest clue that Nicole and Ciaran had gone the way of the majority of other Love Island couples was when Nicole purged her Instagram highlights of her boyfriend. Naturally, she kept promotional posts up for that coin.

While attending the Future Is White Fox event in September, myself and many others clocked Ciaran’s awkward demeanour, a far cry from the affection the couple had earlier demonstrated. While Nicole was her usual high-energy self, Ciaran was noticeably distant in the video.

Brand deals were a big part of their relationship

Love Island stars and brand deals go hand in hand, but with the chemistry between them dissipating, some people on Twitter suggested they were merely staying together for that paycheck. They defended their relationship status when questioned, continued to share joint promo codes, and then just days later announced their split. The math ain’t mathing according to some people, but there’s no direct evidence to suggest this is the case.
