Move over Paris: Cardiff has been named one of the top UK cities of love (making)
I’m surprised there hasn’t been a condom shortage yet
They say communication is the key to a good relationship, wrong! Or at least it seems Cardiff has found other ways of communicating more effectively, according to new research.
Superdrug Online Doctor’s relationship and sex experts have pioneered a new intimacy and communication quiz, Intimacy Ally, which guides couples through a series of questions tailored specifically to explore their common barriers to sexual satisfaction.
Research found that almost one in five people in the UK are unsatisfied with their sex lives and one in seven feel uncomfortable communicating their sexual needs and desires to their partners.
However, this doesn’t seem to be the case in Cardiff, which has been named the 13th UK city of love (making).
53 per cent of Cardiffians are satisfied with their overall sex lives; a further 47 per cent would describe themselves as “sexually adventurous,” and 44 per cent of the Cardiff population rack up an average total of at least seven sexual encounters per month.
However, it’s not all about sex as Superdrug’s experts say that an emotional connection plays a pivotal role in relationship satisfaction. They found that 32 per cent of respondents need a strong emotional connection with their partner to feel sexually satisfied.
External pressures can strain emotional connections, impacting how they translate into physical intimacy. Nearly a third of people feel pressured to meet sexual expectations. These pressures were felt by 34 per cent of men compared to 26 per cent of women.
Yet 26 per cent of Cardiffians reported feeling sexually confident with their partners. It seems Cardiff is not just rampant but also softies with big hearts.
The number one city of love (making) according to this research was Sheffield, where 56 per cent of people are satisfied with their sex life and 54 per cent are sexually adventurous.
