These were the top Spotify Wrapped artists in the UK this year and I’m honestly shocked

Sound the bells and alert the heavens, because at last Spotify Wrapped is here. Whether you’re too embarrassed to share what your stats were, or it’s already on your Instagram story, you may not realise just how basic your music taste is. Having said that, there were a few surprises in the mix this year, and some very unexpected artists made the most streamed list. Here are the Spotify Wrapped top artists of 2024 in the UK – it’s time to find out if you are a sheep like the rest of us.

Okay, it’s no surprise that Taylor Swift is at number one, considering she’s been on her huge Eras Tour this year, played eight sold-out nights in Wembley over the summer and released a brand new album with 31 songs on it. Her not being here would just not make sense.

It’s wild however to see Drake holding the number two spot, considering he only released one single this year and hasn’t released a brand new album since last year.

Another controversial figure to be so high up on the ranking is Kanye West, who released two new albums this year titled VULTURES 1 and VULTURES 2. Although he’s high up on the list, swifties can rest assured that Kanye isn’t coming for her crown.

An artist I’m over the moon to see return to the top 10 is The Weeknd, who was the third most streamed artist in 2023. However, he hasn’t had a song hit the Spotify Wrapped global most streamed chart since Blinding Lights did in 2020.

Billie and Eminem are both solid additions to the list, being established successful artists both releasing albums this year. However, Rihanna making the list is pretty wild considering she hasn’t released an album since 2016. And, she still has 87 MILLION monthly listeners. Maybe it’s a good thing she hasn’t released new music because if she did it could cause the end of Spotify.

Two people I’m so happy to see on the list are Sabrina Carpenter and Noah Kahan. It’s been the year of Espresso and Sabrina’s amazing tour is due to come to the UK in March next year. Noah released Stick Season in 2022 and its impact is still being felt two years later. It’s THE time for breakout artists!

I have some beef with the Spotify Wrapped 2024 top UK artists list: Where are Chappell Roan and Charli XCX?! Right now Chappell’s in a quiet month and still doing 40 million monthly streams on Spotify. She took over the world with Good Luck, Babe! and her album is full of bangers. And I don’t even need to go into Brat’s impact on pop culture or the fact that Charli is a British singer. I guess this means you’re really niche and cool if Chappell and Charli made it onto your Spotify Wrapped this year.
