Love Island star and recent I’m A Celeb campmate Maura Higgins has made a huge impact in the jungle already and seems to be a fan favourite with viewers of all ages. Whether you watched her on Love Island in 2019 or not, you’ll definitely have heard about how iconic she was – the total fan favourite of her season. She was so much of a queen that she became the social ambassador for Love Island USA in 2023. Let’s take a look back on Maura Higgins’s chaotic time on Love Island where she had no problem telling men exactly what she thought!

Love Island 2019

Maura arrived at the Love Island villa on day 10 and was coupled up with Tom, Marvin, Chris and Curtis during her time on the show. She ended up finishing fourth place with Curtis Pritchard and losing to Amber and Greg.

Curtis and Maura were one of Love Island’s longest running couples but they split in March 2020 just before lockdown. After Maura and fellow Islander Chris Taylor went public together, Curtis accused her of cheating during a controversial stand-up comedy routine on Channel 4’s Stand Up and Deliver. It was very dramatic indeed.

Maura was very outspoken on the show and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when somebody rubbed her the wrong way. One of her most iconic moments was when she had a huge go at Tom after she overheard him talking about her to the other boys. She always said it how it was and it’s part of what made her so legendary. She also got into heated arguments with Molly-Mae and Amy and allegedly broke the girl code a few times. But hey, it’s Love Island – it’s not a show without the drama!

You also can’t look back on Maura Higgins’s time on Love Island without mentioning the iconic scene where she and Curtis started making those stupid faces in an argument. She really was a villa legend.

The iconic Curtis and Tommy Fury moments

Viewers will never forget the moment Maura admitted to having a crush on Curtis in the villa. Her wording, the editing, it was all done to a T and framed like she’d just committed murder. I will never get over “I want you to teach me how to dance.” Absolute chaos.

We also can’t ignore her chemistry with Tommy Fury when she first came in the villa as well as the cringe moment of her literally getting on top of him when he was with Molly-Mae. It was like one of those scenes you can’t bear to watch but you also couldn’t look away.

Aside from the confrontations, she came out of the villa popular with viewers and is now one of the most followed Islanders in Love Island history.

Last year Maura was the social ambassador for Love Island USA all summer which seemed like the perfect job for her. It solidified her position as one of the most famous people to ever come out of Love Island and she’s been slaying ever since!
