Maura defends her reaction in *that* iconic argument with Tom on Love Island five years on

She was absolutely fuming

Five years on from Love Island 2019, runner-up Maura Higgins has spoken out about *that* iconic argument with Tom that had the villa and viewers at home up in arms. Maura was a very outspoken character on Love Island and has even admitted she went on the show to cause chaos and wasn’t expecting to find love. She really pushed tensions to their limit in the villa and had many quarrels, but her most notable one was with Tom. Maura recently went on the We Need To Talk podcast hosted by MAFS UK expert Paul C Brunson who had watched her season of Love Island and wanted to dissect her explosive reaction on the show.

On the podcast, Paul played the clip of the infamous argument where Maura called out Tom for talking about her behind her back. In the clip, Tom told her it was all a misunderstanding, to which Maua replied “what do you mean miscommunication? You said what you said,” and then started mimicking him.

“Maybe you should have been a gentleman,” she raged. “Don’t lie to my face, piss off.”

“What do you expect me to do, go on and s**ck you off or something?” she clapped back, and then stormed out of the room.

Maura said “you go girl” while watching the fight back with Paul, who laughed and asked her if she would have handled that back any differently five years on. Her response was a simple “no.”

“I would have exploded,” she said.

“Do you think it would be helpful if you allowed him to say something?” Paul asked, to which Maura said he “[didn’t] deserve to talk.” She completely stood by her actions from five years ago and had no regrets, and to be honest, she shouldn’t either.

“I’d keep going even if someone was quick-witted. I’ll keep going and I won’t give up.” Absolute queen sh*t!
