The girl who thinks she’s Madeleine McCann is back – and she’s talking DNA and new claims

Nearly two years on, Julia has relaunched the ‘I Am Madeleine McCann’ Instagram page

At the start of 2023, a girl called Julia went viral because she believed she was missing girl, Madeleine McCann. She started sharing her “evidence”, doing Instagram lives and even called for a DNA test. The story went so big, it even got a response from the McCann family. Well, now she’s back doing it all over again.

Let’s rewind. Julia Faustyna started an Instagram page dedicated to finding out if she was Madeleine McCann, and had millions of followers. She said she had spoken to investigators on the case, and told The Tab she’d spoken to her family about her beliefs too, but they didn’t want to talk to her about it. Julia shared that she has a number of physical similarities to Madeleine, and had heard suspicious conversations had by her parents.

It all ended with Julia’s parents speaking out, and police dismissing the claims. The DNA test results came back, and Julia’s claims were proved to be false. The tests showed that Julia is not of British heritage and was in fact from Poland. She then spoke out about regretting the claims.

That being said, speaking this week on the Break The Ice podcast, Julia is back discussing her claims. “I remember being taken, I remember being abused before being taken, and I remember that I was put into the car,” she said. She has claimed she has since reached out to Kate and Gerry McCann, but they have ignored her.

She said she “knows more” now compared to 2023, and has had further conversations with her family about her upbringing and childhood, which have made her question her identity. “No parents should act how my parents behave,” she said.

On Julia’s Instagram, she has posted a further statement. She seemed to say she still thinks she’s Madeleine McCann and police are “ignoring” her. “I have tried everything… Nobody wants to help me,” she said. The original “I Am Madeleine McCann” Instagram has also been restored.

On the Instagram page she is once again sharing her “evidence” and attempts to get tests and speak with the McCann family. In one post, Julia has claimed a doctor “said that my DNA matched Madeleine McCann’s profile fairy well.”

On the page, Julia was asked: “If the McCanns won’t do DNA is worth trying with the parents who raised you again or relative,” and she said: “All of them refuse to do DNA test.” Julia has also been sharing pictures of herself next to pictures of Kate and Gerry, to show that they look alike.
