Located bang in the city centre, the Everyman Cinema is a beautiful spot to watch the current films out, with luxurious sofas and food and drink delivered straight to your seat. Highly recommended by those who go, it’s a great alcohol-free alternative for your evenings and you can feel like royalty in the process!

Escape room – Locked In, 93 Hope Street

Perfect for a group of people or an alcohol free date night, escape rooms are a great activity to enjoy this October!

Locked In has the option of five different rooms to choose from, with some of the highest ratings in Glasgow for quality. Its spooky vibe makes it perfect for a sober activity in the run up to Halloween.

Barras Market – East End

A fantastic spot for a sober daytime activity, the Barras indoor market is world famous for its cheery atmosphere and great second hand finds.

Another great spot for a first date or a group day out, potter on down with your friends or partner and have a browse through the stalls for some gems.

Go to a gig at the OVO Hydro Arena or O2 Academy

Both venues have utterly fantastic live shows on offer, including stand-up and amazing musical acts. Upcoming acts at the OVO include Charlie XCX on the 2nd December, Fontaines D.C on 4th December and the Snuts on 6th December, to name a few. An absolutely perfect sober activity for your evenings.

You can find upcoming acts at the OVO here and for the O2, here.

Visit Glasgow’s stunning parks

Autumn is officially upon us, so there’s no better time to wrap up warm and go for a walk around Glasgow’s beautiful parks. With so many to choose from, from Kelvingrove, Queen’s Park and Pollock Park, there are plenty of opportunities for a sober afternoon activity, especially if you take a cheeky picnic basket and a blanket.

Don’t forget, Pollock Park has highland cows!

Museums

Glasgow has a rich and engaging history, and there’s no better way to explore this by walking around some of the jam packed museums the city has to offer! To name a few, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in the west end, Pollock Park with the newly reopened Burrell Collection and the Transport Museum with the Tall Ship offer engaging ways to learn more about Glasgow’s past.

The perfect alcohol free afternoon combined with a cheeky coffee and a cake from a museum cafe.

Try £4 Pasta Mondays at Bloc+ – 117 Bath Street

A personal recommendation, one of the best sober activities in the city centre is trying the £4 Pasta Mondays special at Bloc, or even better, exploring the other food deals they have every day of the week! Steak Wednesdays (£6 a steak), Burger Tuesdays (£4) and Kentucky Thursdays (£5), you’re spoilt for choice on deals! What’s more, all gigs at Bloc are free entry, showcasing plenty of local talent.

Overall, although the prospect of going a whole month without alcohol may be daunting, there’s no need to be bored if you’re interested in doing Sober October or are just looking to cut down on drinking. Although everyone knows that Glaswegians love a party, the city also has heaps to offer aside from its vibrant nightlife.
