Right, here’s how to use the viral Pika Art AI to crush, squish, inflate and cake your photos
Always wanted to see myself crushed by a hydraulic press tbf
Do we fear AI yet? Perhaps it is time to start – because there is a new viral AI trend from Pika that is so harrowing I fear we’ve taken it all a bit too far. The Pika AI video trend basically lets you crush, squish, inflate, melt and CAKE photos of you – or whoever you want. They’re spreading all over Twitter and TikTok right now, so here is how to find Pika AI and make your own video using the wild effects.
What is Pika AI?
You might be seeing a lot of Pika AI on TikTok and Twitter, and if you’re wondering how you can get your own pictures to do these weird video effects then here’s the method. Pika AI basically is a way from Pika Art to use your photos and create wild effects with them. Go to pika.art and watch the introductory video, and then you have to connect to Pika with your Google account.
Once you’re connected, you’ll get a little tutorial. You have to add your own photo and then pick an effect. The wild effects include melt, squish, inflate, hydraulic press, explode and even one that cuts you open like you’re one of those weird “is it cake” things that everyone adores. The AI will do the rest.
How does it look?
AI can be kind of janky to look at, but honestly this is one of the best I’ve ever played with. It’s really easy to do. Here’s some screenshots of me playing around with the very ridiculous inflate option:
Step one: Normal. If anyone thinks this already looks like it’s got an effect filter on… Nasty!

Step two: The inflation. I’m howling.
Step three: It’s giving Aunt Marge in Prisoner of Azkaban.
So there you go! Have fun playing around with it. Bear in mind though, Pika AI viral video effects have a lot of traffic going to its site right now which is slowing uploads down a lot. Sometimes it can take ages, but be patient because the end results are iconic.
