This London university has been ranked the best in the country by the Daily Mail

The Daily Mail has ranked a London university as the best uni in the country.

In its 2025 The Mail University Guide, it placed Imperial College London in the top spot.

The rankings looked at all 129 UK universities, and were based on research output, teaching, final year student satisfaction, and the likelihood of achieving a well-paying job after graduation, among other factors.

The Daily Mail said it checked in with graduates “15-months after leaving,” to see whether they felt “their careers [were] on track.”

As well as placing first overall, Imperial came top in research quality, high skilled jobs, and graduate salary.

The Mail said: “Imperial’s graduates are in demand, with more going into highly skilled jobs than those from any other university, and commanding the highest salaries, too.”

However, the winner placed 121st on student support, and 122nd on the experience of first generation students.

Other a number of other London universities also did well in the rankings. LSE placed second in every category where Imperial placed first, but was overall ranked fourth, losing out to Oxford and Cambridge.

UCL was fifth overall, but best in the country for anthropology, Italian, and social policy.

St George’s, University of London did well in 12th place and King’s College London followed swiftly behind at 13th.

Queen Mary, University of London was also hot on their heels at 16th.

City, University of London came 27th, and just making it into the top 50 were Royal Holloway, University of London at 45th, and London Southbank University at 47th.

However, five London universities didn’t even break the top 100, with the London Metropolitan University placing 126th.

London Met was last in the country for “first year completion,” and almost last in student rankings of “career on track,” (127th), with it also placing low on “high-paying jobs” (124th) and “research quality” (101st).

Westminster placed at 112th, Roehampton at 111th, Middlesex at 106th, and East London at 104th.

Then Kingston University just barely made into the top 100 at 97th.
