Is Sabrina Carpenter secretly shading Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello in her new album?

The pettiness levels are off the scale

Short n’ Sweet has finally been released, with Sabrina Carpenter not only feeding us with some bops (and a few misses) but also seemingly dropping some serious shade about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello in her new album.

But why exactly does everyone think so many of her songs are about the two of them, and why does she seem to care so much? Well, you might have completely forgotten but everyone was convinced that after Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello broke up for the first time, Sabrina Carpenter and him started seeing each other, as she alludes to in the album.

At the time a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Sabrina and Shawn were “seeing each other” but trying to keep their relationship on the low. To add further fuel to the fire fans spotted Shawn wearing Sabrina’s birthstone as a necklace during a Vanity Fair Party. Coincidence? I think not.

However, Shawn soon addressed the rumours, telling RTL Boulevard that he and Sabrina “are not dating.” Having said that he literally said the exact same thing about him and Camila days before they were spotted kissing so we can’t trust a thing this man says.

Alright, so now we’re all caught up on the background of Sabrina and Shawn, what hints are there in her new album that suggest it’s all about him and Camila?

First off during an interview with Zane Lowe, Sabrina admitted that several of the songs are about a situationship. She explained: “I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had, and they affected me the most.”

In Taste Sabrina writes about why her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend is wondering why half of his clothes went missing, and says she’s the one who still has them. Well, you’d never guess but Sabrina has been seen with what looks like a lot of Shawn’s old clothes that she held onto after the breakup. I mean whose gonna throw away a good old oversized hoodie?

In the chorus, Sabrina sings “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you / If you want forever, I bet you do / Just know you’ll taste me too.” Now read that and tell me Sabrina Carpenter isn’t referencing the fact that Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have literally broken up and got back together one million times, this album came filled to the brim with the tea.

During Dumb & Poetic Sabrina sings, “You’re so dumb and poetic. It’s just what I fall for, I like the aesthetic.” She later mentions how “the mushrooms aren’t changing your life” and just one week ago Shawn literally admitted to experimenting with mushrooms…

People also think Coincidence could be about Shawn Mendes and Camila’s reconciliation at Coachella, which I think we *all* remember. I mean she couldn’t have been much more everyone with this one, singing: “Your car drove itself from L.A. to her thighs / Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s playin’ sides? Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew. Least that’s what you said.”

You cannot tell me this isn’t about them both, the writing is literally on the wall.

While neither Shawn Mendes nor Camila Cabello have publicly responded to whether Sabrina Carpenter was dunking on them in her new album, Shawn has posted a cryptic tweet.

Shawn tweeting: “Medicine for a tired heart” and the timing of the tweet is very much giving subtle shade vibes. Whilst it could be a complete coincidence it’s so much more fun to pretend it’s not.
