A relationship expert predicts which Love Is Blind UK couples will actually last
Just a heads up, it isn’t Catherine and Freddie
Love Is Blind UK took many of us by surprise yesterday, when three of the engaged couples said no at the altar. You might have seen some of them coming (cough cough Catherine and Freddie) but to be honest, I couldn’t really put my finger on why the other two said no. Don’t worry though, we reached out to expert relationship and boundaries coach Rachel Rose who dissected the Love Is Blind UK couples’ compatibility, and how long they’ll last together. Here’s everything she said about the I dos and I don’ts.
Benaiah and Nicole
Rachel began with deep diving into Nicole and Benaiah’s journey which was “anything but straightforward.” She said that “initially, Nicole had her doubts about Benaiah, primarily because she had chosen Sam in the pods, who was more open about his feelings. However, as the process unfolded, Nicole realized she had made a mistake and recognized that she was a better match with Benaiah.” I guess there is such a thing as being too open.
She continued: “Despite her initial reservations about his nomadic lifestyle, Nicole worked through her abandonment fears and confidently said yes at the altar. The future for Nicole and Benaiah looks promising, though the challenge of balancing Benaiah’s adventurous spirit with their relationship could be ongoing.”
She noted that “his family’s deep emotional investment, particularly after Nicole initially rejected him, highlights their open-hearted nature—a quality that likely resonates with Nicole.” Nicole was previously married and “needs reassurance that this relationship has a high chance of success.” Having familial support on top of their successful relationship is the solid foundation she’s looking for.

“Nicole appears more comfortable and secure in her feminine energy around Benaiah, and their shared quirky, playful dynamic suggests that their relationship will continue to grow and flourish.
“Benaiah gave a very real and pragmatic view of the fact that the risk of divorce could be higher due to the nature of how they both met. Having said this however, their shared belief in spirituality, their ability to embrace each other’s eccentricities and learn more about each other over time point to a solid, exciting future together.” It looks like it’s written in the stars for these two!
Jasmine and Bobby
It’s difficult not to notice Jasmine and Bobby’s “distinct” relationship dynamic. Rachel says that “while Bobby is a committed and dedicated partner, it’s clear that Jasmine takes on the more masculine energy in their relationship. This dynamic may stem from Jasmine’s upbringing in a matriarchal environment, influenced by her mother’s experiences and perhaps her own past betrayals in relationships.” This energy balance definitely worked well for them, though.
Jasmine’s mother was also a touchy subject on the show, who was “controlling” and had a “tendency to project her own trauma onto Jasmine and Bobby.” Rachel noted that their mother-daughter relationship could result in “blurring boundaries and enmeshing their identities.”
So, how will they last? “For Jasmine and Bobby’s relationship to thrive, it will be crucial for Jasmine to establish healthier boundaries with her mother, allowing her to experience love on her own terms without the shadow of her mother’s past influencing her present.”
It looks like Bobby is a very positive force in Jasmine’s life, providing a “stable, calming presence.” Rachel concluded: “This sense of security, combined with Bobby’s commitment, suggests that they have a strong foundation for a lasting relationship. However, much of their future success may depend on Jasmine’s ability to heal from past wounds and form a relationship that is truly her own.”
Sabrina and Steven
Sabrina and Steven’s relationship is known for the “solid foundation and the genuine connection they built early on.” However, that’s not to say there hasn’t been problems: The two had differences over children, but they handled it “maturely and promptly.” Rachel said that “both Sabrina and Steven come across as secure individuals whose love languages align well, enhancing their bond. Their physical affection on the show felt authentic and reciprocal, indicating a deep emotional connection.”
So why were they so successful? The answer is that they “focused solely on their own journey, avoiding the drama surrounding other contestants. This focus on each other likely contributed to the strong foundation they built in a short amount of time. Their mutual attraction is palpable, with their wedding celebrations radiating both love and passion—two crucial ingredients for a long-lasting relationship.”
It’s no secret that Sabrina’s family approached the experiment with “caution” to begin, but there seems to be “little risk of familial interference.” It looks like smooth sailing for the couple, but Rachel notes that “the issue of children remains a potential sticking point, as they have only touched on it once during the show. Should Sabrina’s stance on this change, it could pose a challenge in the future.”
Freddie and Catherine
This decision was pretty shocking to all of us at home, but especially to Catherine, who “seemed convinced he would say yes.” But, is it Catherine’s fault for assuming that? Maybe not. Rachel reflects that “in a candid conversation before the wedding, Freddie revealed that while he was ready for marriage, however from his final decision it is clear that he wasn’t necessarily ready to marry Catherine specifically. This revelation left Catherine feeling blindsided, and her emotional turmoil was evident as she processed a mix of bewilderment, shame, anger, and sadness.” I guess the Catherine hate train needs to make an emergency stop.
Were the signs there all along? Well, we did miss the “subtle hints that Freddie had developed concerns about Catherine, particularly regarding her perceived materialism.” Rachel agrees that “as a man who is accomplished for his age, Freddie’s fears about marrying someone he believed was more focused on material possessions were understandable.”
Rachel summarised: “Catherine’s behaviour, such as her visible irritation over seemingly small issues and tendency to stonewall rather than communicate openly, may have further fuelled Freddie’s doubts. Ultimately, Freddie’s decision served as a harsh but valuable lesson for Catherine about the importance of authenticity and open communication in a relationship.”
Ollie and Demi
I really didn’t know what to think about these two, but Rachel believes that “Demi’s decision to say no to Ollie was likely a result of a significant moment of clarity.” She mentioned a conflict between her head and her heart before walking down the aisle, which “indicated that she wasn’t fully confident in the relationship.” In a headstrong moment, Demi “chose to evaluate the relationship from a more practical perspective. Demi’s personal growth during the show seemed to have led her to the realisation that the dynamic with Ollie wasn’t what she truly desired.”
Did we miss this throughout the show? Rachel noticed that “throughout their relationship, Demi frequently worried about whether Ollie was fully committed to her, a sign of her anxious attachment style.” Although, was it really all in Demi’s head? “Ollie appeared more dedicated as the wedding day approached, it’s possible this was only because other distractions, such as Catherine and another contestant he had shown a brief interest in, were no longer in the picture.” Maybe Demi’s fears were actually right. Remember, there’s so much we didn’t see behind the scenes.
Rachel thinks it may be for the better that they didn’t get married: “The time apart before the wedding may have allowed Demi to reconnect with herself and gain clarity on what she truly wanted from a relationship. Her decision to walk away likely stemmed from a desire to find a partner who could consistently provide the emotional security she needs without her having to constantly question their commitment.”
Maria and Tom
Even Rachel found Tom’s decision to say no to Maria at the altar “one of the most surprising moments of the season.” His “I don’t” was one of the most plot twist-y moments of the whole show, especially given that “on the day of the wedding, Tom expressed confidence in his connection with Maria.”
Tom explained that he felt that their values might clash in the future, especially on matters of gender roles, and “Maria’s belief that the man should be the main provider in a relationship, as a significant misalignment.”
Rachel saw his facial expressions change at the altar, which “suggested that he was grappling with this realisation in real-time.” She also explained that “It was evident that Maria was caught off guard by Tom’s decision, indicating that they hadn’t fully resolved these issues during the experiment. Tom’s concerns about how Maria’s values might affect their future children also played a role in his decision.” This is something you should probably discuss before you walk down the aisle to be honest.
So, where did they go wrong? It seems that “he internalised these concerns rather than discussing them openly with Maria, leading to his final decision to walk away.” Communication is the key guys!
