An exact breakdown of who was scouted and who applied for Love Is Blind UK

Benaiah was approached but had to Google the show because he doesn’t watch TV

| UPDATED

As the show came around again, Love Is Blind producers shared all on what they look for when casting hopeful daters for the pods. They said influencers and fame-hungry wannabes are off the table, and that they want people who are genuine on their hunt for love. Having said that, for the UK version of the show Love Is Blind producers still scouted a whole bunch of cast members, and only a few actually applied for the experiment.

Are people who are scouted more likely to want fame? Who knows. Maybe those who apply are applying for the wrong reasons? I guess that’s for the producers to work out – but anyway, here’s a complete rundown of who from the cast of the first season of Love Is Blind UK was scouted, and who applied.

Who was scouted for Love Is Blind UK?

Catherine has spoken about being scouted for Love Is Blind UK, but said despite this, she didn’t get any special treatment. She was approached, but then still had to go through casting and an audition. She called it a “long process” and said she didn’t think the message she got about going on the show was even real. Good job she changed her mind!

Benaiah was also approached by casting producers to take part, but in the most him thing possible – he had no idea what the show was! He said he had to Google the show’s name because he doesn’t watch TV. He said what drew him in was the concept because he’s “struggled in relationships in the past” and this “seemed like a new way of meeting a partner.”

And who actually applied for Love Is Blind UK?

Now let’s discuss who wasn’t scouted, and actually applied to be part of the Love Is Blind UK experiment. Freddie applied for the show, and said he “remembered being lay in bed at night and it came up as an ad on TikTok. The rest is history.” Jasmine also applied to be on the show, and said she did so because she’s always loved the US version, and also saw an advert on social media.

Sabrina also applied to be on the show. “For me it was an intense four month process before being cast,” she said. She said you have to go though a number of checks, as well as screening calls, and “lots of Zoom calls.”

Ollie hasn’t explicitly said he applied, but he definitely hinted that he did, when he joked on Instagram that he ended up on the show because “the Mexican version wouldn’t have me.” Sure!
