Snoop Dogg was the real winner of the 2024 Olympics and these iconic moments prove it

Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis and Michael Phelps’ record-breaking achievements have made them the faces of past Olympics, but the defining figure of the 2024 Paris games was not an athlete – unless you consider hotboxing a sport.

Snoop Dogg was NBC’s special correspondent at the Olympics and has been inescapable on our TV screens over the past few weeks. Here’s everything he got up to at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Snoop Dogg’s Olympics fun began long before the Paris Opening Ceremony. In June, Snoop decided to have a go at the 200m sprint at the Team USA Olympic trials in Oregon. Snoop didn’t quite smoke the competition, coming last behind four time medalist Ato Bolden and retired American sprinter Wallace Spearmon. But it still looked like he had a blast.

Snoop was looking toned, tanned, fit and ready as he made an appearance watching the dressage competition, fully decked-out in equestrian kit. This is my personal favourite Snoop Dogg Olympics moment and, quite frankly, I’m jealous of the outfit.

Despite being in Paris as NBC’s special correspondent, Snoop’s other job title and, let’s be real, his most important job title, was Team USA’s unofficial mascot. There are so many moments where Snoop Dogg could be seen cheering on his country’s athletes – but this one is our favourite. It was great to see how he got Simone Biles so hyped up. It’s just a shame we didn’t get to see him in his own star-spangled leotard. Oh well, there’s always the next Olympics.

Snoop Dogg got another opportunity to bust some moves at the beach volleyball. When the DJ spotted Snoop, he took the chance to play one of his hits, resulting in the icon standing up and throwing some shapes. Not only that, but he was wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with Team USA’s Kelly Cheng’s face, which he wore underneath a hoodie which had her teammate Sara Hughe’s smiling face printed on it.

Snoop had his main character moment whilst carrying the Olympic torch

At this summer’s Olympics, Snoop Dogg was given the honour of carrying the Olympic torch in Paris. And, we have to say, once he’d figured out it wasn’t a giant metal joint, he did a great job. He carried the torch a fair distance, making sure not to drop it like it was hot.

He got a swimming lesson from USA medallist, Michael Phelps

The Doggfather also got involved in the pool, joining Michael Phelps for a swimming lesson. While his technique needed a bit, he showed he had some skills – and could certainly do a lot more than doggypaddle. He might need a bit of work, but as Snoop is famed for his lung capacity, if he has his eyes on the Los Angeles games in 2028, swimming might be his best bet.

Not only that, but he even had a go at fencing. Is there anything he can’t do?

Snoop even opened the first ever breakdancing competition

He also got the chance to officially open the breakdancing competition, which was the first time that the world’s best breakdancers have had a chance to gun for Olympic glory. He opened with a short ceremony and threw a few dance moves while his hits played out, cheered on by the crowd.

He teamed up with Dr Dre and the royal family for the Closing Ceremony

Snoop Dogg really was the main character of the Paris 2024 Olympics. And just as the games opened with Snoop, of course it had to be Snoop that would give the games the send off they deserve. He performed his hits in his hometown of Los Angeles, where the games will be in four years time as part of the ceremonial handover that happens at the end of each olympics.

He performed alongside Dr Dre and even made the cut in a congratulatory message with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
