Brand new Colleen Hoover adaptation It Ends With Us has blown up this week in places across the world, but the film is set in a small corner of Boston. The gorgeous scenery of the movie was one of my favourite parts of watching, and I wondered if it was actually filmed in the Massachusetts city, but it was actually filmed in places all over the country, which took me by surprise for a film with such a small-town vibe. So, where exactly was the movie filmed, and can you go and visit some of the iconic locations if you’re ever across the pond.

A lot of the outside scenes were shot in New Jersey

The cast and film crew made theirselves at home along the East coast while filming in New Jersey towns like Hoboken and Jersey City, as well as much smaller places like Weehawken, Chatham, Harding, Newark, Parsipanny-Troy Hills and Plainfield. That makes sense to create the small-town effect that you feel in the movie.

Ever wanted to dine at Roots (or Bib’s if you’re a true book fan) and live out your Colleen Hoover dreams? Well now you can. Roots is actually a real restaurant called South House, located in New Jersey. It’s a southern restaurant which you can even book out for private events, and I can’t think of anything more fitting than bringing my mum to meet my new boyfriend at Atlas’s restaurant! Sorry, too soon.

It looks like Lily’s flower shop isn’t a real store, which is a real shame for It Ends With Us fans who were excited to visit these gorgeous places. However, the building is located on Bloomfield Street in Hoboken, so if you ever find yourself in New Jersey, go and pay it a visit!

Was any of the film actually made in Boston?

Surprisingly, none of the film was actually shot there apart from the skylines which make various appearances throughout. In order to get these, the crew headed to the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge. I guess not everything is better in Boston.
