Lauren opens up on ‘terror’ of ‘violent’ past relationship that left her with ‘broken ribs’

She bravely admitted she was once ‘tied up and left in a closet for two days’

Lauren from MAFS Australia has bravely and emotionally opened up about a “violent” past relationship she was in, that left her in “sheer terror.” She took to her Instagram story on Wednesday to speak out about dealing with an ex who is “threatening” or “blackmailing” you, making sure her followers know “it’s a crime.”

She went on to explain that she’s been “too scared to file a VRO (violence restraining order)” against her ex, because of “what the media and public will say” but she’s realised that not doing “makes me a hypocrite.”

Lauren bravely went on to explain the absolutely awful and traumatic experiences she had to go through whilst she was in her past relationship, detailing the physical harm she came to as a result of his actions.

She wrote: “I was subjected to years of nothing but sheer terror and violence. Multiple broken ribs, black eyes, bloodied lips, blood shot eyes from being strangled until I was unconscious. Tied up and left in a closet for two days. But I stayed and put on a brave face. I even fought back which made me feel like I deserved it.

“I’ve been out of that relationship for a while now and now that I have finally moved on, I’m being blackmailed and threatened into giving that person a second chance. I’ve been terrified of speaking out but I’ve had enough. F*ck that and f*ck him. I just want to be left the f*ck alone.”

Lauren then explained that during one of the scenes on MAFS Australia where she found out about Jono messaging Ellie, she wasn’t crying about that, but rather because she felt triggered.

She admitted: “I want to address this moment on MAFS. This is when we discussed Jono messaging Ellie. I was not crying here because of that. I was crying after discussing how traumatised I was from my previous relationship and how I felt triggered. It’s important to let everyone know that Jono knew about my situation with my ex and he was very supportive. You can see the hurt and pain in my very ugly crying face lol.”
