Chappell Roan complains fame has made her miss ‘rolling up’ and ‘being a freak at the bar’
‘I miss frolicking, obviously, because now I’m self-conscious to frolic’
It seems fame might not be all it’s cracked up to be, as singer and overall icon Chappell Roan has lamented the fact she can no longer ‘roll up’ or ‘be a freak at the bar’ because of her newfound celebrity status. Chappell skyrocketed to fame after two of her songs, Casual and Good Luck, Babe! went viral on TikTok giving her a whopping 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
She has already had to extend her Midwest Princess tour after completely selling out, but has admitted that the last couple of weeks have been “cuckoo.” She appeared on The Comment Section with Drew Afualo to discuss her overnight success and complained about what she misses the most from her pre-fame life.
She admitted: “Doing drugs in public. That’s what I miss. Just like, rolling up, being a f*cking freak at the bar or making out with someone at the bar. I miss frolicking, obviously, because now I’m self-conscious to frolic.” There’s truly nothing better in this world than to frolic, so I really do get where she’s coming from.
She added that she really misses just getting out in public and getting to do normal things like “being in a Forever 21 and not being judged.” She explained: “I’m in disguise most of the time. But like, I miss just walking around being by myself. I guess being by myself is [what] I miss.”
She also described how unsafe she feels in public because of people, including her fans, behaving like “freaks” and giving off “stalker vibes.” She admitted: “People have started to be freaks. They follow me and know where my parents live and my sister, where my sister works, all this weird sh*t. A few years ago I said if [there was] stalker vibes, like family was in danger, [that’s] when I would quit. We’re there.”

Chappell Roan also reflected on her sudden overnight fame and revealed that her fellow pop girlies had all been adorably reaching out to support her. She explained in a TikTok: “I’m reflecting on my life and the past couple of weeks have been cuckoo, but what’s so reassuring and so f*cking sick is, the pop girls that you and I have loved our whole lives or have been f*cking stans [of] the past two or three years — a lot of them have reached out and are so supportive and girl’s girls.”
She’s also been very open to her fans about how her sudden lifestyle and pop icon change has been affecting her. She admitted to fans: “I just want to be honest with the crowd. I just feel a little off today because I think that my career is just kind of going really fast, and it’s really hard to keep up. I’m just being honest that I’m just having a hard time today. I’m not trying to give you a lesser show, it’s just, there’s a lot. Thank you for understanding. This is all I’ve ever wanted. It’s just heavy sometimes.” You’re killing it Chappell and we all love you!
