Why did Queen’s leave it until nearly 9am to let us know if class is on?

As storm Ophelia hurtles towards Ireland today predicting winds of up to 80 mph, we are being warned to take every precaution: don't make unnecessary journeys, tie down your wheelie bins and trampolines, stay inside if possible. For the safety of pupils and staff, schools across the country are closing for the day and even Dunnes Stores has announced they will be closing all of their stores over the North and South.

However, one institution that decided to create a bit of dramatic tension was Queen's University, who left it until half an hour before classes begin to announce their opening plans for the day.

Despite all primary and secondary schools, Ulster University, and Belfast Met announcing their closures last night, QUB didn't. They must have lost internet access or something.

Students took to twitter desperately seeking answers to a very serious question: "Should we go to uni today?"
