Snow Way?
THE SNOW IS COMING! As a winter wonderland draws ever closer, Durham students remain divided in opinion about potential snow showers. The Tab sums up the icy debate.
If you haven’t yet heard, Durham’s fave winter conversation topic is coming to town. Yes, it’s predicted to snow this week. Hunter wellies and Jack Wills gilets at the ready!

Now an annual tradition, weather forecasters are predicting it to be the ‘coldest winter ever’, with scenes of snowy carnage plastered all over the news.
Constant heavy snow is expected for three months, drawing comparisons with the infamous winter of 1947.
Forecaster for Exacta Weather, James Madden, has apocalyptically declared that the UK faces “an incomparable scenario to anything we have experienced in modern times”. Right.

Last year the snow arrived in Durham in October
But it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. Some Durham students are positively thrilled by the news.
Katie from Mary’s commented: “I love snow – who doesn’t? It makes Durham even prettier than it already is!”
Other Freshers are hopeful that snow will bring lecture cancellations and opportunities for sledging. When the weather gets colder, mulled wine becomes practically obligatory and the ‘cute-snowy-profile-picture’ opportunities are endless.

Last year’s Tab snowman competition caused quite a storm
However, despite all these snowy positives, others remained unenthusiastic.
Andrew from Hild Bede moaned: “It’s great for a week, yeah, but then it’s just annoying. I hate snow”.
Others complained of treacherous travels to and from lectures, as well as the night out nightmare of snowy dressing.
Where do you stand on snow-gate? Whatever your views, it’s coming soon – snowy showers are scheduled for sometime this week.
The gritters have been out, the temperatures have plummeted…. Better get prepared!
