Football (Men’s)-UEAFC

Football is one of our most popular sports and the UEA men’s football team certainly reflects this.  They’re pretty good too! Last year UEAFC had a magnificent season, winning numerous games and trophies through all three tiers of the team.

The first team won the Anglian Combination 3rd division, nearly completing an unbeaten season but losing in their last game in horrific conditions – much to the chagrin of their ‘leader’ Oliver Dingli. The second team won a league and cup double gaining promotion to the Midlands 3rd division, and the third team also won their league.

UEAFC boasts three teams all of a high calibre, so there are lots of chances to play, and with the teams competing in both university and local leagues, as well as cup competitions, it’s no walk in the park. The standout game of the season is of course the Derby Day match against our Essex counterparts, and this always attracts a big crowd. There are high hopes for the upcoming 2013/14 season.

Having lost a few big players and characters in the changing room to graduation, the team is looking for a big influx of freshers to stand up and be counted. As long as they get through the initiations.

Football (Womens)-UEAWFC

UEAWFC had a mixed but ultimately positive 2012/13 season. They won their Sunday league, but were relegated in their mid-week BUCs league. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Norfolk Cup. Most importantly though, they beat their Essex counterparts 2-1 in the Derby Day match-up. The team range from skilled and experienced players to girls coming along for a laugh and a kick-about, and most importantly each and every one is welcomed.
