Marco Rubio’s hopeful path to 2020

Never give up

Yes, THE Marco Rubio is back at it in the political arena. Only this time it is for US Senate, and most likely the 2020 presidential election.

Back in March, the Florida Senator announced he would drop out of the presidential race after brutally losing his home state of Florida to Donald Trump.

In that speech he said he would not run again, but in politics, changing your mind is the norm.

Rubio is attempting to stay involved in government and according to CNN sources, to try again in 2020 as a presidential candidate.

He has been involved in the government for years. Biography lists his achievements, including a detailed timeline of Rubio’s start in politics:

He started off as a West Miami City Commissioner in 1998, only two years after earning his Law degree. Not long after this, he was successful in becoming a state legislator in the Florida House of Representatives. Rubio was able to become a “majority leader in 2003 and then speaker of the house only three years later.” His experience in politics is quite impressive.

Rubio recently posted on his website to say he has officially decided to run again for re-election for multiple reasons. His main point was that he wanted to be involved in the checks and balances that prevent the president from wielding excessive power.

He went on to say that America should be worried if either Clinton or Trump clinch the presidency. Rubio ends his released statement by saying: “In the end, there was simply too much at stake for any other choice.”

It is not news that Rubio plans to advance limited government and ensure a strong national defense, but he intends to do so if re-elected.

Rubio has done many things as Florida’s senator, including the Gang of Eight bill concerning immigration. According to Breitbart: “the immigration bill would have tripled the issuances of green cards, doubled the dispensation of foreign worker visas, and granted citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants.” This was difficult for him to reconcile with his more conservative peers as they denounced this bill as a threat to border security. They said that it was “amnesty” and has a possibility of creating dependent illegal immigrants on welfare and social security.

However, in a state of turbulence and lack of compromise, Rubio’s stance is refreshing. In order to get things done, compromise is a necessity. Although Rubio did not agree with everything in the bill, he was able to push it to the floor and go on the most conservative talk shows to make it more likely the bill will get passed. Rubio has a history of being able to get stuff done with the Democrats for the good of the people.

A suspected strategy for Rubio for the 2020 election is to become re-elected as a senator, get as many things done to strengthen his qualifications and accomplishment list, and focus on what to do to have the best chance of becoming the President of the United States.

With respect to his political path he said: “There were two paths before us. There was one path that was more personally comfortable and probably smarter politically. But after much thought and prayer, together we chose to continue with public service; to continue down the path that provides the opportunity to make a positive difference at this critical and uncertain time for our nation.”
