I refuse to cook for myself

Ain’t nobody got time for that

Cooking for one sucks and I don’t care what anyone says. Even though it’s incredibly cliché for a single female, I would much rather get take out than cook for myself every night. The extent of my cooking is making Ramen or making fried bologna sandwiches. Don’t get me wrong, I can definitely throw down in the kitchen when need be, but on a daily basis I’m just too lazy. I find it a lot easier to cook for a lot of people – I would much rather spend hours in the kitchen cooking for my friends and family than just for myself. There are many reasons why ordering food when you’re alone is more economical and just straight up smarter than grocery shopping and then cooking.

You save money

The amount of money that I spend on food that ends up going to waste is ridiculous. By the end of the week I have to throw out at least half of the food because there’s just too much. The grocery store sells things in bulk like you’re trying to feed an army. A jar of spaghetti sauce is too much for me for a week and I never use the whole loaf of bread by myself.

It’s a lot more convenient

I don’t have to think ahead about what I’m going to take to work for lunch, I can just order food to the office. It’s like having food on demand. Every place delivers now, it’s the greatest part of the 21st-century.

It’s easy

I have the Grub Hub app, I have the Hooked app, I have basically every food app there is. It’s ridiculously easy now to just order food to wherever you are whether you’re at your house in the office, at someone else’s house, or even on the side of the road. And yes, a lot of places do deliver to the side of the road.

The possibilities are endless

If I’m feeling like Chinese one day, I can have it. If I’m feeling like Italian the next day, I can have it. All without having to make multiple trips to the grocery store or having to spend a lot of time trying to make a different meal every night. I can get it professionally made and it’s almost guaranteed to taste better.

It’s actually healthier in the long run

When I grocery shop I get things like bologna and mayonnaise and Ramen. I don’t necessarily get food. But if I order food online, I get things like salad and soup, and an actual meal. So, it’s a lot healthier for me to just order take out than to cook for myself. It’s almost guaranteed that I will not make a well-balanced meal for myself when I cook, but if I order something, I’m almost guaranteed a well-balanced meal because the things I order usually come with a side salad or other vegetables.

For a lot of single girls (and I know I’m not the only one), it’s easier and smarter to order out. I have tried both sides, and I will always choose takeout over a home cooked meal made by myself.
