Charlotte’s Speed Street features carnival games, live music and fast cars

The NASCAR festival transforms the streets of Charlotte, NC

Charlotte’s Speed Street is an annual celebration of the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Running for 22 years, the festival” transforms the streets of Uptown Charlotte into one of the largest consumer events in the Southeast.”

The  contrast between the sleek buildings of Charlotte, the consumerism of the NASCAR festival and the true spirit of the citizens displayed through street art provides an interesting look into the multi-layered society.

The first Coca-Cola 600 took place in 1960. The annual race will be held on Sunday, May 29th, 2016, at 6pm.
